April 8, 2006

PATH staff and volunteers have just returned from Nicaragua, and we are chomping at the bit to share news with you about our most recent work there. PATH programs are improving the lives of horses, supporting orphaned wildlife (ocelots, monkeys and birds, birds, birds) while improving the quality of veterinary care throughout the country. Please watch your mailboxes in the coming days for our April newsletter, which will contain details of program developments and information on how you can help us bring comfort and care to animals in need.

We are so excited about our first social marketing campaign in Nicaragua that we want to share some details with you now! PATH has partnered with Managua's Universidad de Ciecias Comerciales to produce and distribute 30,000 brochures containing equine care information targeted at urban horse owners and horse-cart drivers in Nicaragua. The campaign material was distributed by including supplements in Managua's Hoy newspaper during a three day period in March. This is the first of our social marketing efforts; efforts that will improve the lives of horses, dogs, cats and wildlife throughout Central America. You can see the print ads below; the content focuses on equine nutrition, basic equine veterinary care and husbandry needs.

PATH's friend Robin Sanders (of CBS News) has asked that I tell you to watch 60 Minutes tomorrow (Sunday, April 9th) to see a heartwarming story of elephant rescue. Please support pro-animal media coverage by both watching CBS's 60 Minutes and by asking your friends and family to also tune-in.

We wish all of our friends a peaceful April. We need your help to continue our work improving the lives of animals in the developing world. Please visit our website at www.ppath.org to learn more or donate now using the link below.
